Psychic Diagnosis? Fraud? You Decide

By Andrea de Michaelis, Editor

This is one of those articles that is a little hard to write, and in fact I've squeezed it in here in the last minute. I am one of those people who appreciates all the alternative health care providers available in today's marketplace. I like having lots of choices and I like to take my time researching the background of anyone I entrust my health and well being to.

In June, I went to a a holistic expo and sat in on a talk by someone who advertises herself as a psychic healer who works with bio-magnetic healing research. She also sells various healing technology products, and her bio says "Sue is a nationally known healer for over 30 years and brings all her experience to the fore, determining the root causes of disease and pain. She can not only locate the specific organ or area, but can also reverse the unstable conditions using magnetic mental protocols."

Sue is an engaging speaker and appears to be knowledgable on her topic. After the talk, she began 'testing' some of the attendees using a pendulum to dowse from an anatomy book. I edged up closer so I could see what she was doing. She did a few 'readings' on people, naming organs and areas of concern for them, according to her dowsing results. She asked, is anyone here who is in pain? and I raised my hand, as I was nursing an elbow injury.

She immediately began dowsing for me, and told me all my areas of concern: my kidneys, my bladder, my adrenals, my left eye, hypertension, back and neck. She performed 'muscle testing' on me for the various conditions.

Now, had this happened to me last year, I might have been concerned. However, I have been doing all nutritional and healthwise things 'right' for the past 5 months and have just had an extensive series of blood tests run to check my progress, which showed everything functioning optimally. I have no problem with my left eye, and I don't have back or neck problems. I have never had hypertension, and my blood pressure is consistently 110/70. She never "got" that it was my elbow and wrist that were injured.

I didn't feel the need to mention in front of everyone assembled there that I knew that her dowsing was inaccurate - for me. She appeared to be 'accurate' for the 300 lb. young mother she diagnosed with back & knee problems. Go figure. It just so happened that I had gone for a series of blood tests right before that, to know what my function levels are since I changed my eating habits. The only other time I had tests done was in the hospital. I wanted to know what they were when I was in good health.

I wrote this article because there are well meaning people out there who think they are performing a service that may not be a service at all. Or they may be good at what they do, and just be unable to do it accurately in an expo seminar class setting. Then there are always unqualified people in every field who masquerade as experts in their field, simply for the purpose of selling you something they claim can fix what ails you. And they will tell you what ails you.

I believe dowsing works, when done properly. I believe muscle testing works, when done properly. I believe in biomagnetic healing, when done properly.

I believe that not everyone with training, a license or certificate is competent in their job. I believe it's sometimes possible to be competent in your job without training, a license or certificate. Having said that, I simply suggest that before you place yourself in front of anyone who is going to say words to you in diagnosis for any mental or physical or spiritual 'ailment', you have a good understanding of your own personal status. Because what they say will affect you. What they say might worry you, if you leave it unchecked. Whatever you worry about, you begin attracting to you, so it can become a self fulfilling prophecy. You don't want to begin treating something you may not have after being diagnosed by someone who may not know.

Know the background and training of anyone who diagnoses you. You can visit a local lab without a doctor's order, and have blood drawn to test all organ functions. You will fast for 12 hours before testing, but you can usually just walk in and have it done without appointment. Just get to know yourself. Knowledge is power. Big time. And you can trust me; I'm not trying to sell you something :)
